Opera Singer and Guitarist

One of the winners of the Denver Opera Guild's recent Competition for Colorado Singers, tenor Humberto Borboa will sing accompanied by guitarist Kirk Redman

Humberto Borboa, tenor.
Originally from Mexicali, Mexico, Humberto received a B.M. from Escuela Superior de Canto de Mazatlan in 2012 and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Arizona in 2014. He was a 2013 Arizona´s District winner from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition and made his professional debut in 2009 with Sociedad Artística Sinaloense in Mexico, singing the solo tenor role in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Since then he has actively performed throughout Mexico, as well as appearing in Antigua, Guatemala, Austria, Chicago, Italy and the Czech Republic. The Arizona Daily Star praised Mr. Borboa as a “powerfully graceful and bright tenor” after his interpretation of Alfredo Germont from Verdi´s La Traviata, at the University of Arizona opera theater in 2012. Among his other operatic roles are Remendado in Carmen with the Boulder Symphony Orchestra, John in  Illegal Alien (World Premier) by Alfonso Molina at the University of Arizona Opera Theatre/Fiestas del Pitic, Mx., Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at La Musica Lirica, Italy, and Tito in La Clemenza di Tito at the University of Arizona Opera Theatre, Bastien in Bastien und Bastienne at Cultura Mazatlán, Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Seviglia at INBA, Durango-Chihuahua/Da Corneto Opera Company in Chicago, and Lamberto in Il Maestro di Musica by Pergolessi with Cultura Mazatlán, México. Most recently Mr. Borboa sang with Opera Theatre of the Rockies the role of Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte. Next engagements include Mozart's Requiem under the baton of Maestro Devin Hugues with the Arapahoe Philharmonic and Cherry Creek Chorale. 
 
 
Kirk Redman is an established teacher and performing guitarist. He has been studying classical guitar since the age of eight, and has been teaching classical and fingerstyle guitar for the past decade and, while teaching in Cincinnati, was voted best music instruction in the East by Cinci Magazine. A graduate of the prestigious College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, he performed regionally and regularly presented engaging and varied concert programs throughout the Midwest before relocating to Denver. He enjoys bringing rarely heard music to a wide audience, performing in both formal concert halls and casual diners and cafes.
