Colorado Senate Majority Leader

Senator Mark Scheffel represents Colorado State Senate District 4 in Douglas County which includes: Castle Rock, Parker, Franktown, Larkspur and Castle Pines. Senator Scheffel serves as the Senate Majority Leader, making him the second-highest ranking Republican in the Colorado Senate.

Mark graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in finance. He then went to the John Marshall School of Law where he obtained his juris doctor. Later, Mark earned his LL.M. (master of laws) degree from New York University’s School of Law.

Mark and his wife Cheri reside in Parker Colorado with their four children.

Senator Scheffel, a businessman, believes in the importance of fostering an economic environment that allows businesses and individuals with the entrepreneurial spirit to flourish in Colorado. He has worked extensively on pro-business legislation including efforts to phase out the business personal property tax.

Senator Scheffel was elected to the Colorado State Senate in 2008. During his tenure in the General Assembly, Scheffel has been an ally to the business community and taxpayers of Colorado.

Scheffel has received the following awards: Independent Bankers of Colorado – Freshman Legislator of the Year Award; Independent Bankers of Colorado – Champion of Main Street Award; Colorado Mortgage Lenders – Legislator of the Year Award; two-time winner of the Colorado Civil Justice League – Common Sense in the Courtroom Award; and the Colorado Union of Taxpayers – Taxpayer Champion; NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association - James T. Brubaker Legislator of the Year Award; National Federation of Independent Business - Guardian of Small Business Award.
