Human Trafficking in Colorado

Janet Stansberry Drake received her Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1996.  Ms. Drake is currently a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Special Prosecutions Unit at the Colorado Attorney General’s office.  The Colorado Attorney General's Criminal Justice Section is dedicated to serving victims and prosecuting offenders throughout Colorado.  The Colorado Attorney General's office also assists other law enforcement agencies with investigations, prosecutions and policy matters.  As an attorney in the Special Prosecutions Unit, Ms. Drake investigates and prosecutes organized and complex, multi-jurisdictional crimes.

Ms. Drake has been prosecuting human trafficking cases since 2007.  She is on the human trafficking faculty for the National Association of Attorneys General, and was honored as Faculty of the Year in 2014.  Ms. Drake participates in the following anti-human trafficking organizations on behalf of the Colorado Attorney General:  FBI Rocky Mountain Innocence Lost Task Force; Front Range Anti-Trafficking Coalition; Colorado Trafficking and Organized Crime Coalition; Denver Anti-Trafficking Alliance; and the Colorado Human Trafficking Council.  Ms. Drake is also on the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking State Advisory Board.
