Next Week Speaker - Dr Lixin Zhang
Dr. Lixin Zhang  -  The Benefits of Acupuncture

Lixin Zhang is a successful acupuncturist with offices in Cherry Creek.  Lixin offers free educational seminars to interested groups on the benefits of acupuncture in the treatment of both acute and chronic illness, as well as a tool to achieve optimal health.  Lectures are 30 minutes and include acupuncture demonstrations (which often show immediate results), as well as his clinical success stories.  Each talk is specific to the needs of the group.
Not only is Lixin a humorous and lively individual, his story is nothing short of fascinating. Born in China to a family of acupuncturists spanning 10 generations, his acupuncture training started at the age of 9. Lixin has more than 30 years clinical experience in both China and the United States, and has treated thousands of people with traditional therapies.  He was trained in the fields of both Western and Traditional Chinese medicine in northeastern China, specializing in neurological and degenerative disorders.
In 1992, he became Chief Doctor of his acupuncture department at the Red Cross Hospital in Beijing.  A number of his medical research studies were published throughout the 90s, and he has been featured in the Chinese national press and television.
Lixin wants to share his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of acupuncture.  He has seen acupuncture bring hope back into the lives of many patients with “terminal” or “untreatable chronic pain” prognoses. He hopes to demonstrate the power of this ancient healing art with those who today are suffering with conditions that are pronounced “untreatable” or for which simply palliative therapies are offered by Western medicine, but for which he feels confident he can make a difference.

Lions Camp work day May 14
Many Hands Make Light Work!
The Colorado Lions Camp near Woodland Park Colorado is seeking volunteers for the annual Clean Up / Fix Up day which will be this May 14 (a Saturday. This will be the only scheduled day this Spring.)
Lions from all over the state come to help out, and it's great fun! Bring your family or friends to help if they'd like a day up in the hills, too. There's no real set schedule, but work generally commences in a rolling start from 8:00 to 9:00 am. Painting, Sweeping, Bike Repair, Fence Work, Maintenance, more Painting, some construction, and some more Painting. Lunch, coffee, provided; bring your own sunscreen. More information and location on their website at ColoradoLionsCamp.org or e-mail Lion Jim Hannifin at jjhannifin@gmail.com

Our Denver club carpools down from the King Soopers parking lot east and south of intersection of I-25 and Hampden - meet there at 7:00 AM!
Denver Lions Orientation
We had a great turnout this week for the Denver Lions Orientation.  Not only Denver Lions new members but also the New Stapleton Lions Club members attended.  Nothing like pizza, beverages and learning more about Denver Den to bring Lions together.
Recycle for Sight REMINDER
As the coordinator for the Denver Den’s Glasses for the masses I would like to take this opportunity to say  I am so appreciative  of your confidence in me to be so  …. and to tell all of you how gratetful  I am to the volunteers in Glasses for the Masses for their steady hand at the helm to ensure a continued flow of used glasses for this important aspect of the Denver Den Lions of Denver -  and especially my appreciation to Jim Hannifin and Steve Kinsky and Dwight Steen for keeping me posted with all the goings on while I have been “out of the loop” since early January.

I also want to thank most particularly LION BOB FRYE - after years of volunteering, he is retiring from the ranks of GFM.  He will be sorely missed....

And Yeppers - you know what is coming next!  How about one [or more!] of you Lions standing in the wings stepping up?  This is not one of those "every day and twice on Sunday" dealies - it's as easy as puddin' pie! Don't be shy now!  Just give  me a call and I shall fill you in the way we go about it.

I am hoping to finally get off this tether I have been on and make it to at least a couple of meetings in May.  I actually miss some of Maggiano’s  cookin’, definitely their salads, and specially those crunchy rolls w/gobs of butter on them!

Looking forward to seeing you all in late May.
