Come Enjoy Denver's Dragon Boat Festival
Bring the family. Cheer on our team! Volunteer for KidSight. Eat something yummy. Enjoy the celebration and most importantly, Have Fun!

It'll be hot you say? Yes. But they have cooling shade sails which will screen out up to 70% of the direct sun. And, they have cooling stations! So, just make sure to bring your sun block and your sunglasses.

Park at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in the northwest lots off of 19th and Federal. The cost is $5 and then ride the FREE shuttle bus that runs every few minutes to the festival.

Eat at one of the two Taste of Asia food courts, one on the west side of the festival and one on the east. That means more space, more choice and fewer lines to get your taste buds going. Check out our menu of Taste of Asia vendors, from Chinese to Indian, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Laotian and more. This is a perfect opportunity to widen your culinary horizons and try a little of everything. And for those of you who prefer festival food at festivals, we have more typical fare such as burgers, brats, sausages and fries too. To help you keep cool, we have water, Pepsi and snow cones.

Shop gift items, jewelry, arts, toys, fashion and lots more just browsing from booth to booth.

And so much more!

Event:  Dragon Boat Racing   http://www.cdbf.org
Date:   Sunday July 31
Time:  Most of the day racing, enjoying the festival and other Lions, and help with KidSight

During the festival we will also be doing KidSight Screenings on both Saturday and Sunday.

KidSight at Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival is the largest Denver Lions KidSight event.  Last year we screened 300+ kids, a record.  We expect the same or more this year.  We can use your help for a morning, afternoon or a couple hours.
Bonus:
Bring the family and friends as the festival has a lot going on.   On Sunday you can cheer on the Denver Lions Race Team.

Here are the details;

Location Sloan's Lake

Dates   Sat 7/30 and Sun 7/31

Time:  KidSight screening Sat 10 am to 5pm  Sun 10am to 4 pm

Parking:  Park at Mile High and take free shuttle bus to Festival.  Note the parking around festival and Sloan's lake is very bad and not recommended.

There is lots to do.  We screen a lot of kids. No experience necessary.  Besides screening we need help with processing the kids and parents, managing the crowds, helping with referrals, and finding and bring kids and parents to the booth.  You can also be part of the festival opening parade on Saturday morning.

Gratitude

Locally, regionally and globally, Lions have been recognized for their service to the blind and visually impaired. When Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become “Knights for the Blind”, she couldn't have possibly imagined the impact of the Lions commitment to blindness prevention. Lions don't do it for the gratitude they receive, but because they want to serve and make a difference. However, studies show that most of us really do want to hear someone thank us for the things that we do, even if it's something that we're supposed to be doing anyway. Being appreciated is one of those things that really motivates us, both at work and in life, so here is a note to remind us that what we do is important, and that we are appreciated.
