On behalf of Denver Lions Club, Lion Tish Taylor presents a donation to Lion Ed Jacobs, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank. Last year the Eye Bank help restore sight to over 2000 people with cornea implants. Jacobs said the money helped purchase digital microscopes that can send a digital image of a cornea directly to the transplant surgeon.

Lion Steve Kinsky reported to the Den that the new Stapleton Club is a go. Currently, twenty new members are signed up. He did ask for any Denver Den member for assistance with the new club.
Thank you notes from folks in the community who our club assisted. Sandy was grateful for social services help through the Foundation. We helped Ladji procure hearing aids through the Foundation's Hearing Fund. All this is possible with the Lions donations to the Foundation. Lions are making a difference.
The vision of the new National Western Center is more than just a stock show redevelopment it is a grand plan to reinvigorate neighborhoods; re-invest in disconnected communities, and the re-invention of transportation. Kelly Leid calls it "a transformation of an antiquated but historic site" into a useable local and global hub.
Kelly Leid is the mayor appointed project manager of the North Denver Cornerstone Collaboration. His goal as the manager is to support the internal and external teams, create new partnerships to execute a vision, and establish community engagement. The project is an eight-phase plan that will take at least a decade to complete.
Included in the collaborative are six major projects:
I-70 East and River North and South Platte redevelopment, three transit lines, four stations in the Globeville, Elyria-Swansea neighborhood, Brighton Boulevard Gateway, and National Western Center.
The plan will reconstruct 3000 acres of North Denver with hopes of energizing neglected communities & Denver's historic industrial edge. Called the Corridor of Opportunity the effort will have a local & global reach. The corridor will activate a twenty-three-mile passage linking Denver's Union Station to DIA along I-70 & RTD's East line creating 30,000 to 50,000 jobs.
We all like to plan ahead. Here are some dates you need to put on your calendar. The details of each event is on the website. Just look at the the club calendar and click on the event.
