It is time to sign up for Dragon Boat Festival.  Dragon Boat Racing is a blast.  No experience necessary.  Bring the family.  There is lots to do at the Festival.

Time:  Most of the day racing, enjoying the festival and other Lions, and help with KidSight
Location:  Sloan's Lake at  17th Ave and Sheridan
Practice Sessions:  At Sloan's Lake at 5:30 pm  June 16 and or July 14. No experience necessary
Practice Location: North Boat House.  This is east of Sheraton on Bryon.  Bryon is first street south of 26th.
 
During the festival we will also be doing KidSight Screenings on both Saturday and Sunday. 
 
 
Summer Picnic at Railroad Museum
Mark your calendars for August 13.
 
Get ready to ride the rails at the Colorado Railroad Museum.  We are having our Denver Lions summer picnic at the museum.  This is definitely bring the family event.  
 
The details:
Event:  Denver Lions Picnic
Date:  Saturday August 13
Time:  10:30  am to 2:30 pm  (come early and stay latter to enjoy the railroad)
Location:  Colorado Railroad Museum, 17155 W. 44th Avenue, Golden, CO 80403
Directions:  The Museum is located 12 miles west of downtown Denver. Take Exit 265 off of I-70 onto Colorado Highway 58 and follow the signs.
What to bring:  The club will provide burgers and hot dogs.  Please bring a side dish or desert.

Lions at Habitat
Lions Helping Habitat
Sign up now to volunteer for a Habitat build.  If you have not done a Habitat build this it is a lot of fun and gratifying.  Many people think you need to be a handy person to work at a Habitat build.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.  But you may learn some new skills.  You will not be asked to do anything you are not comfortable doing.  We have Lions and friends of Lions volunteering but can use more.  This is also an opportunity to introduce your children or grandkids to volunteering.  They just need to be at least 16 years old.  Sign up you will be glad you did.

Bill Hildenbrand Lion Award

Savio House celebrated 50 years of service to Colorado families and communities. Lion President Terry Lutts presented the Lion Award to Lion William Hildenbrand.  Bill’s has been Savio House Executive Director for 37 years.  His service has been the invaluable foundation to the growth and success of Savio’s services provided to the Front Range communities.  The Denver Lions Club was an integral part of establishing Savio House.

KidSight is holding a PlusOptix training session.  Whether you want to brush up on your screening skills or try it out, this is a great opportunity.
