Mark your calendars for the Denver Lions Summer Events
 
  • June 30 - July 4 - 100 Year International Convention - Chicago. 
  • July 1-2 and July 8-9 volunteers needed at Colorado RR Museum
  • July 30 - Dragon Boat Racing - signup paddle or come and cheer on our team
  • July 29-30 - KidSight at the Dragon Boat Festival - this is a big KidSight event. We sceen over 300 kids
  • July 13 - Centennial Patron Party
  • August 5 - One Day Eye Clinic
  • August 12 - Summer Lion Picnic at the Colorado RR Museum
  • August 13 - 22  International Vision Campaign to Mongolia - Contact Myrna Ann Adkins for details

Dragon Boat Racing - July 30 
It is time to signup for Dragon Boat Racing.    Everyone who has tried this has had a lot of fun.  This is a family event so bring family, friends, and kids.  There is a lot to do between races.  We have a team tent to relax.
 
Event: Dragon Boat Racing 
 
Date:   Racing - Sunday July 30. 
 
Location;: Sloan Lake
 
Cost:  $40 for team shirt, snacks and a lot of fun. 
 
 
 
Summer Picnic August 12
Summer fun at the Denver Lions Picnic.  This will be extra special as the Colorado Railroad Museum is providing Lions with free entrance fee and tickets on the Galloping Goose.  There is a lot more to see.  This is a family event so bring family and friends.
 
Event:  Denver Lions Summer Picnic
 
Dates:  August 12
 
Time:  11 am to 2 pm.  But stay as long as you want to see the museum
 
Location;   Colorado Railroad Museum  17155 W. 44th Avenue, Golden, CO 80403
 
What to bring:  Club supplies burgers and hot dogs and beverages.   Lions bring side dish to share

A DAY OUT WITH THOMAS AT THE COLORADO RAILROAD MUSEUM THE RAILROAD MUSEUM IS HOSTING THE “THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE” FOR THE 16TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR AND THE DENVER
LIONS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE THOMAS VOLUNTEERS AND HELP WITH THIS YEAR’S PROGRAM.  
 
THOMAS WILL BE RUNNING ON THREE WEEKENDS ---
JUNE 24/25, JULY 1/2 AND JULY 8/9.
 
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP, YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT IN THE MORNING, AFTERNOON, OR ALL DAY, ON ANY ONE OR MORE OF THE SIX DAYS.  
 
IT IS A FUN TIME AND YOU WILL BE A PART OF MAKING A LOT OF LITTLE CHILDREN HAPPY.

WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE MUSEUM FOR OUR ANNUAL LIONS PICNIC, SATURDAY, AUGUST 12. THE MUSEUM IS NOT CHARGING US ADMISSION, NOR ARE THEY CHARGING FOR RIDES ON THE “GALLOPING GOOSE”.
 
THIS IS IMPORTANT:  IF WE GET ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS THEY WILL ALSO TRADE OFF THE USUAL CHARGE FOR THE USE OF THE PAVILION FOR THE VOLUNTEER HOURS.

The Centennial Patron Party
The Centennial Patron Party
 
Denver Lions who have contributed $1,000 or more to the Centennial Campaign, and those of you who plan to do so, are invited to the Centennial Patron Party  If you made contributions this year to either the Foundation or the Club, including sponsoring an ad in Centennial History book, those amounts count toward the $1,000 to be recognized as a Centennial Patron. Further, you can pledge $1,000 (or the balance to get to $1,000) to be paid by September 1, 2017.  Centennial Patrons will be listed in the Denver Lions Centennial Celebration Dinner Program

International Mission to Mongolia
Did you ever think about going on an International Vision Campaign.  Now is your chance.  Denver Lions is partnering with the Denver Sister Cities on a campaign to Mongolia.  On this trip you will not only be providing vision exams and glasses to Mongolians in need but also seeing the sights of Mongolia.  We will be taking 3,000 Recycled for Sight glasses  These are glasses collected by Colorado Lions and processed by Sterling Lions.   The campaign is from August 13 to 22, 2017 For more details contact Lion Myrna Ann Adkins    303.880.8219  myrnaanne102@gmail.com;  Lion Susy-Osorio    303.773.2703  osorio.susy@gmail.com;  Lion DG Steve Kinsky  303-263-3901  stevekinsky@gmail.com 
Denver Lion Myrna Ann Adkins is in Mongolia working with the delegation of the  Denver Sister Cities.  One of the Denver Sister Cities is Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.  While in Mongolia Myrna Ann is working on the logistics for the Vision Campaign.  Pictured are members of the Ulaanbaatar Lions Club.  
RECORD NUMBER OF LIONS
Lions Clubs International world wide membership is at an all time high of 1,445,591.  This is with over 46,000 clubs in 210 countries.  Lions make a significant impact throughout the world.  We all should be proud of being part of Lions. 
Denver Lions Golf Outing
A lot of fun at the Denver Lion Golf Outing at Meadow Hills CC.   18 golfers competed for amazing prizes.  The trophy went to the winning team of Don and Jeff Smith, John Molberg, and Jim Nussbaum.
 
Many thanks for the donations for prizes.   Kathleen Campbell, Bill Hildebrand, Harold Hein, Bill Adams, Emerson Bales, Ned Nagel, Argonaut Wine and Liquors, Maggiano’s, Eagles Nest Restaurant.

Denver Rescue Mission
The Denver Lions Foundation presented a check for $2,400 to the Denver Rescue Mission. Denver Lions has been supporting the Mission for many years.  The mission uses the funds to provide glasses to people in need.  People need to see to succeed.
