Denver Lions sponsors medical missions, referred to as "campaigns," to underdeveloped countries around the world. It has supported campaigns to Rwanda, Ecuador, and Nepal, and individual Denver Lions members have also participated with other Lions Clubs in efforts in Mexico, Central America, and other South American countries. In July 2015, we collaborated with Ecuadorian and other U.S. nonprofits and served 1,500 poor people in the villages of Otongo Mapoli and Puerto Limon near Santo Domingo, Ecuador. We provided optometry, dentistry, and general medicine services and distributed eyeglasses to over 400 people. We also  â€‹performed eye surgeries on over 60 cataract and strabismus patients. Campaigns such as these are great ways to underscore the motto of Lions Clubs International: "We Serve."
